We deserve a court that works for workers — but instead the Trump Court continues to run the corporate playbook and rewrite the rules in favor of their billionaire backers. Now, with their greatest power grab yet underway, the MAGA justices have more authority over our overtime pay, our collective action, and our accommodations and protections in the workplace. As long as this Trump Court remains unchecked, workers and our unions remain under threat.
The Trump justices owe their seats to the same billionaires funding the attacks on Social Security and Medicare, so it’s not surprising that their latest power grab threatens a dangerous ripple effect across the programs and services our nation’s seniors and people with disabilities depend on — including their ability to resolve disputes over their Social Security benefits. It’s time to vote for leaders who appoint justices who represent us — not politicians who appoint justices to do their unpopular dirty work.
As housing costs rise, too many seniors living on fixed incomes are struggling to stay in their homes after a lifetime of work. It’s now expected that the population of homeless individuals who are 65 or older will double in the next few years. The Trump Court’s response? Greenlighting cities to fine or arrest people for things like sleeping outside with a blanket or pillow… even if they have nowhere else to go. We deserve a Court that knows corporate fraudsters should be held accountable, rather than one hell-bent on making the American people pay the price of corporate greed.
Because of the Trump Court’s rulings, 21 states and counting have banned or restricted access to abortion and 6 patients were airlifted out of Idaho to get emergency abortion care during the months the Trump Court allowed the state’s ban to take effect. This is in direct contrast to the American people’s overwhelming support for abortion rights. The Trump Court is willing to trade our freedoms and lives for their agenda. So long as the MAGA justices remain unaccountable, our reproductive freedoms — including IVF, birth control, medication abortion, and emergency abortion care — remain under attack.
Our government is supposed to be ‘of, by, and for’ the people, where everyone has an equal voice and our elected officials are accountable to us. However, the Supreme Court’s MAGA supermajority has taken a sledgehammer to the promises of democracy – gutting voting rights, allowing corporate money to speak louder than our votes, hamstringing the ability to fight racial gerrymandering, and granting king-like presidential immunity for Donald Trump to act with impunity. We need leaders who will stop the Trump Court from bowing to a king and using the bench to advance the Project 2025 scheme to effectively dismantle our democracy.
When the MAGA justices struck down abortion rights, they put all of our personal freedoms on notice – opening the door to bans on gender affirming health care and threats to same-sex marriage. This summer, they further set the paper trail to mount their attacks, which ultimately harm families and create instability for children as their decisions could be the difference between a child getting access to a local preschool, receiving critical medical treatment, or finding a loving home. It’s clear we need leaders who will stop the Trump Court’s bigotry by fixing the Court, not politicians who enable it.
Last summer, the MAGA justices struck down the Biden-Harris Administration’s student loan forgiveness plan — leaving 40 million Americans, who were promised relief, to pay the price. Now, new cases challenging the Administration’s updated plans are moving their way through the courtrooms to the high Court. We need Supreme Court justices who know that everyone deserves a fair shot— rather than Trump justices who will rewrite the rules to block policies their billionaire buddies don’t like.
We’re learning the best hiding spot in our classrooms when we should only be focused on learning fractions or reading comprehension. We’re keeping our phones on in the movie theater in case we need to send that text. We’re looking over our shoulder at the grocery store, the mall, the concert, in our places of worship, as we walk down the street. Yet, in the face of tens of thousands gun-related deaths each year, the Trump Court has unleashed a flood of challenges to long-standing and widely-accepted gun violence prevention measures, just made it easier to turn firearms into machine guns, and grabbed power away from the experts responsible for strengthening background checks. When our communities band together to advance solutions in the wake of tragedy, we shouldn’t be met with a Court that strikes that progress down.
In recent years, the MAGA justices delivered huge victories for their big oil and corporate backers by rolling back protections against pollution in the air we breathe and water we drink, fish, and swim in. As the Court weakens our tools to combat the climate crisis, big polluters are further emboldened by their allies’ support to continue pursuing their dangerous and unpopular agenda for the sake of padding profits. We need leaders who will fight the climate crisis and keep our communities safe — not ones who will use the Court to gut climate protections.
